Seti Devi Lower Secondary School

Seti Devi Lower Secondary School is in Simthali-5, VDC in Kavrepalanchowk. It is 80 km away from Kathmandu. It runs classes from nursery to grade 7. The total number of students in the school is 155 with 8 academic and non-academic staffs. Majority of students at the school are from minority groups. Their parents are illiterate but have dreamed to educate their children.

Since its establishment the school has been providing qualitative education. The school team has been showing its effort to run the classes with the motto of empowering the minorities and other children. But the massive earthquake of April 25 it happened to lose all classes and white boards.

The school had nine rooms and an office, out of which eight have been damaged by the recent earthquake leaving only two at the state of use though in risk (tagged with “Immediate Demolish”). The school is in the urgent need of additional classes and white boards to run its regular classes. In recent time, the school is conducting its classes in the playground and a TLC. Students are suffering from chilling weather and dust every time. The school is facing a severe crisis of classes and furniture. As the school needed at least five rooms to conduct its regular operations, it requested us to help us make five rooms operational.

We have supported the school to add five rooms to help the school conduct classes there. We signed a MoU with Seti Devi Lower Secondary School, Simthali VDC, Kavre district on May 31, 2016 to reconstruct/renovate construction of five rooms of the school building. This program is financially supported by Ami Corp.
